August was an exceptional month for Credit Union 1, marked by the conclusion of our School Supply Drive. Thanks to the generosity of our members, staff, and community partners, each of our branches collected a grand total of 6,196 items to donate to local students. The branches also stayed active throughout the month by supporting teachers and students heading back to school, providing financial literacy programs, food pantry volunteering, and networking opportunities.

Our Springfield Branch helped kick off the school year by donating breakfast goods to Pawnee Elementary and Black Hawk Elementary, ensuring teachers and staff started their first days with encouragement and support. The UIC Branch led multiple Bite of Reality workshops, partnering with Lumity Illinois Youth Investment Program and Sierra House LLC to deliver hands-on financial literacy training to young adults. The Matteson Branch continued their volunteer commitment at the Rich Township Food Pantry in Richton Park, IL. where they helped serve 100 families. In the Northlake community, CU1 built stronger connections by participating in National Night Out with the Chicago Police Department, sharing resources about our products and services. They also attended the St. John Vianney School Ice Cream Social, where they handed out flyers and laid the foundation for a new financial literacy partnership with parents and students. The Evergreen Park Branch took part in the District 124 Back to School Bash, distributing 156 school supply bags, raffling off a backpack, and donating additional supplies to their ongoing school supply drive. This event showcased CU1’s commitment to empowering local families and students as they began the school year.

Meanwhile, the Lincoln Park Branch continued its monthly tradition of providing lunch at the Lincoln Park Community Center, while also participating in the Health Fiesta Tour, offering seniors valuable insights into managing their finances on limited incomes. Our Rantoul Branch stayed deeply engaged in the community by volunteering at the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, distributing 80 boxes of food to families in need. They also attended a Coffee and Connections networking event with the Rantoul Area Chamber of Commerce, connecting with local businesses and community partners.

In August, CU1 remained a champion for financial well-being while actively giving back to the communities we serve. Each branch played an important role in strengthening local connections.
