July was a month of outreach for Credit Union 1, as branches across the nation showed up with purpose—focusing on donation, financial wellness, and community involvement. CU1 employees gave their time, knowledge, and generosity to programs that align with our mission to champion financial literacy and growth for all.
The CU1 Hygiene Drive wrapped up this month with several branches collecting and donating essential personal care items to local nonprofits. The Evergreen Park team donated their collection to Elevate Pregnancy Center in Evergreen Park, Hobart partnered with Tradewinds Services in Merrillville, IN., which supports individuals with disabilities. Lombard donated to the Glen House Food Pantry in Glen Ellyn, IL., where they also regularly volunteer, and Vernon Hills continued their support of Libertyville Township Food Pantry. Our Sycamore and DeKalb branches delivered donations to Safe Passage, a vital resource for survivors of domestic violence in DeKalb County.
During the rest of July, our Rantoul Branch had deep involvement in multiple local efforts. From volunteering at First United Methodist and Eagles Nest food pantries to participating in Freedom Friday community celebrations, their presence was felt across the city. They also supported the CSC Golf Outing, which raises vital food funding, and took an active role in the Kids in Business Camp, guiding middle schoolers through budgeting and business planning in preparation for a pitch competition. The Bradenton Branch participated in MCR Health’s Employee Appreciation Event, supporting hundreds of essential workers. The Matteson Branch focused on education and empowerment, delivering financial literacy to young adults at Sierra House, supporting the Rich Township Food Pantry, and attending the New Faith Career Event. The Lombard Branch represented CU1 at the People’s Community Church Backpack Dash, while the Evergreen Park Branch packed their calendar with events—from Future Legends Basketball League and a Christmas in July Mixer to an Independence Day Town Hall and a Lunch & Learn with State Rep. Rick Ryan. Together each branch continued to make an impact in their community.
