This November, Credit Union 1 continued its strong tradition of community involvement, with branches across the country participating in events that brought financial literacy, volunteerism, and community support to life.
The month kicked off in Bradenton, FL. where the branch engaged families and children at the SOAR in 4 event at the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. Team members set up a CU1 station, providing financial education and interactive games for children and parents. The Bradenton team also volunteered at the Meals on Wheels Food Bank, sorting produce and helping ensure families in need had access to nutritious meals. Meanwhile, the DeKalb and Sycamore branches joined forces to support local communities through the Pet Supply Drive, donating essential items to Tails Humane Society. The Sycamore branch also participated in Make a Difference Day, packing food to help feed children in need. In Evergreen Park, the branch had a visible presence at the Indiana vs. Marquette basketball game at the United Center, where they engaged attendees and raised awareness of CU1’s products and services.
The Matteson branch demonstrated its commitment to both charitable causes and financial education. They volunteered at a turkey giveaway, distributing over 800 turkeys to families, contributed to the Matteson Humane Society through the Pet Supply Drive, and assisted at the Senior Turkey Luncheon, serving 100 seniors. Additionally, they delivered donations from a special food drive to Sierra House Foundation and supported youth financial literacy by facilitating Bite of Reality workshops alongside Evergreen Park and UIC branches. In Plano, team members participated in the Pet Supply Drive, donating collected items to Kendall County Animal Control. The Rantoul branch had an active month, volunteering at the Pet Supply Drive, donating to CARA and HART, and continuing their monthly support at the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, serving 96 families, and the Eagles Nest Food Pantry, assisting 30 students and their families. They also attended the Rantoul Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet, presenting the Young Professionals Award, and hosted a Bite of Reality workshop at Lincoln’s Challenge Academy, helping cadets apply financial literacy lessons in real-world scenarios.
Throughout November, Credit Union 1 branches worked tirelessly to provide essential resources, financial education, and community support. From youth programs to senior outreach and charitable drives, our teams continue to strengthen the communities we serve while reinforcing the credit union’s mission of financial wellness and community engagement.
