July was another impactful month for Credit Union 1, with branches coming together to support communities through donations, financial education, volunteerism, and local events.
The month began with the remaining 2026 CU1 Cares Hygiene Drive donations, with branches across CU1 donating essential items to organizations in their communities. The Big Lake Branch donated to the Big Lake Food Shelf, Decatur collected 73 items for the Ronald McDonald House, Springfield donated to Regency Nursing Home, and Minot collected hygiene products for local community members. The Matteson Branch donated items through My Path; My Purpose, with collections supporting individuals impacted by tornadoes in the South Suburbs.
The Matteson Branch also completed two Bite of Reality sessions, giving students hands-on experience with credit, budgeting, and real-world financial decisions through an interactive simulation. The Rantoul Branch celebrated Independence Day by walking in the Community Fourth of July Parade. The Rantoul branch also participated in the Salvation Army’s Christmas in July event and continued supporting early childhood education through the Head Start Book Mentors program. The Sauk Centre Branch continued its ongoing support of Meals on Wheels, volunteering to deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors and community members while providing friendly visits and wellness checks. The UIC Branches participated in the Future Ready Summit & Opportunity Expo, leading financial wellness sessions on the Psychology of Spending and Budgeting 101 while providing students with financial resources and opportunities to connect with CU1. July showcased the many ways CU1 employees continue to give back, educate, and build stronger communities across our footprint.
